Staff

Liz Powers is the Founder and Director of City Heart. She graduated from Harvard College with honors in sociology in 2010. After graduating, she received the Stride Rite Postgraduate Public Service Grant from Harvard to spend a year developing free art groups with homeless and low-income women in Cambridge. In 2010, she was awarded the "Unsung Heroine Award" in the Massachusetts State House for founding art collectives and the LIFT Bike Project (www.liftbikeproject.org)​.

 

 

Spencer Powers is the Director of Development for City Heart. Spencer graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in economics and received the 2007 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Award for Community Service. He currently works as a business consultant in Boston and donates his time to run City Heart’s finances and operations. Spencer is currently working with Liz, his sister, to broaden and scale-up City Heart’s mission.

 


Heidi Lee is the Artist-in-Resident for Common Art, an art program for the Boston homeless community. She studied painting at Gordon College, art education at Lesley University, and teaches art at Boston Trinity Academy, a high school for inner city youth. She co-directed City Heart 2012, during which she was introduced to the various homeless art programs in the Cambridge and Boston area.



Sara Bonilla is the Head of Marketing for City Heart. She graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in Neuroscience and a concentration in Studio Art in 2012. She is an oil painter and general crafts-lover who became involved with City Heart  through the Women's Center, where she has been interning since October 2012, running Drawing & Painting and Knitting groups. She created the city heart logo and website, is focused on the development of the City Heart website, and has organized City Heart's first adverting campaign through the MBTA.





Matt Ciommo is a Marketing Intern for City Heart. He is a sophomore at Harvard College studying Philosophy and Visual Environmental Studies. A Boston local, he has worked on numerous volunteer projects throughout the city, including the Mayor's Youth Council and Tenacity Summer Tennis and Reading Program. An artist himself, Matt joins his love of art with his love for the city by helping with City Heart, promoting the event around colleges and neighborhoods in the area.



Charlene Lee is a Marketing Intern for City Heart. She is a junior at Harvard College studying Economics and Sociology. She has been drawing and painting since she was five, and is currently the events fundraiser for the Phillips Brooks House Association. She joined the City Heart team in 2013. She is involved with City Heart's ad campaign and is helping design the pre-show for this year's show and sale.

 



Natalie Lee is a Marketing Intern for City Heart. She is a sophomore at Boston College studying Economics. She painted and drew throughout high school, and continues to paint in college. She joined the City Heart team in 2013. She is involved in press relations and merchandising for City Heart.

 



Civry Melvin is a Marketing Intern for City Heart. She is a junior at Harvard College studying Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations with a secondary in Dramatic Arts. As a producer, actor, singer, and costumer of many theatrical productions at Harvard and elsewhere, she has always had a strong interest in the arts. She joined the City Heart team in 2013. She is currently working on editing documentaries of City Heart artists, assisting with website updates, and creating other promotional materials. 

 

 

Delphine Rodrik is a Marketing Intern for City Heart. She is a junior at Harvard College studying History and Literature, and has a background in art as a painter, photographer, and writer. Last year she was a volunteer at the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter and was also part of planning and painting a public mural installation during Harvard's Arts first weekend. She joined the City Heart team in 2013. She has been focusing on editing documentaries featuring City Heart artists and helping to send out press releases for this year's show.

Ada Smith is a Marketing and Finance Intern for City Heart. She is a senior at Wellesley College double majoring in Environmental Studies and Anthropology. Growing up in a family of artists and empowered women, she had a strong desire to support women and art in Boston and City Heart helped her do so. She came to City Heart in 2011 as an art intern for the Cambridge Women's Center and On the Rise where she helped facilitate painting and sewing groups. She is currently working on City Heart's 501(c)(3) application.
